Restoring power after an outage is urgent for both you and Little River Electric, so it’s important and helpful when you notify us as soon as possible.
If you’d like to take a look at known outages before or after reporting your own, please review current outages on our live Outage Map.
Reporting a Power Outage
Please call 1-800-459-2141 toll-free or, locally, dial 1-864-366-2141 (Abbeville) at any time to report an outage in your home or community.
The information you give us will help us restore service more promptly and efficiently.
Please remember not to use email or social media as a means of reporting a power outage. Social media is not tied to our outage management system, and email may not be accessible for a variety of reasons, including the power outage itself. You can also tune in to local television and radio stations for reports.
Before Reporting an Outage
Getting your power back on quickly is a matter of first establishing the cause of the problem. Before calling in a report, please help us determine if the service problem is within your home or business electrical system or on our system. Start by checking to see if your neighbors have lost electricity. If they also are without power, it’s likely the problem is on our system. If your neighbor does have service but you don’t even though your homes are served by the same power line, the problem could very well be within your electrical system.
Start by resetting the main disconnect breaker for your home or business, which is located outside beside your meter. Simply switch the breaker off and then back on. If power is not restored, it’s time to check your breaker panel for tripped breakers and reset them if necessary. (Your breaker panel is often found in a garage, utility closet, or laundry room.) If power is still not restored, please report the outage right away.

What To Do Next
After you’ve reported the outage:
- Turn off all electrical appliances that were on when service was disrupted, leaving a lamp on so you’ll know when power is restored.
- Turn circuit breakers to major appliances (like your stove) to the “off” position.
- To help preserve food, leave the doors to your refrigerator and freezer closed.
- Once power is restored, avoid overloading by turning appliances back on in 15-minute intervals.
Sometimes major weather events cause extended power outages. Make sure you are prepared in case the loss of service extends to multiple days.
