Watching the line of trucks and cars roll through our drive-through Annual Meeting registration last month, I was reminded what a special organization this is. You weren’t grabbing coffee or picking up a quick dinner. You were taking part in the business of the cooperative you own.
That’s the heart of Little River Electric Cooperative. This month, I simply want to say thank you.
Thank you to all our members, especially the 1,478 of you who registered. You show up, ask questions and give us grace and patience. Your involvement keeps our cooperative accountable to the people it was created to serve.
Many of you went a step further by donating to our Operation Round Up Annual Meeting Food Pantry Drive after registering. Together, you raised more than $5,000 to help stock the shelves at local food pantries.
I also want to thank our employees. Whether they’re restoring power, setting poles, inspecting transformers or greeting you at our office, they take pride in serving our members every day. At the time of our annual meeting, our 35 team members worked more than 2,400 days without a workplace injury that kept them off the job. That record earned Little River Electric its sixth consecutive President’s Safety Award.
I’m grateful, too, for the leadership of our Board of Trustees. Their steady guidance helps Little River Electric navigate challenging times, remain financially healthy and prepare for a strong future.
I am also thankful for the communities we serve across Anderson, Abbeville, McCormick and Greenwood counties. Little River Electric is proud to serve these communities, and we are thankful for the people and local businesses that serve us in return.
