April is a special month for our cooperative as we recognize both Lineman Appreciation Month and Administrative Professionals Month. Having worked as a lineman for many years, this time of year means a great deal to me personally. I know firsthand the dedication, sacrifice and hard work that go into keeping the lights on and our cooperative running smoothly.
A lineman’s work is not just a job—it’s a calling. It often means working long hours, through the night, in difficult and sometimes dangerous conditions. When storms roll in and most families are seeking shelter, linemen are heading out. When members are sleeping, linemen are climbing poles, repairing lines and restoring power so that homes are warm, businesses can operate and daily life can continue without interruption. It means missing birthdays, holidays, ball games and family dinners. It means answering the call no matter the time, weather or circumstance.
As someone who has stood in those boots, I understand the physical demands and the mental focus required to do this work safely. I also understand the pride that comes with knowing your efforts make a direct difference in people’s lives. The commitment to safety, teamwork and service is something every lineman carries with him each day. I want to personally thank every lineman for the sacrifices you and your families make and for the professionalism you bring to the job. You are the backbone of our infrastructure and we appreciate you.
At the same time, April gives us the opportunity to recognize another vital part of our cooperative family— our administrative professionals. While linemen are working in the field, our administrative team is working just as diligently behind the scenes. They are the steady voice on the phone when members call with questions. They manage the details, paperwork, billing, coordination and communication that keep everything organized and moving forward.
Administrative professionals often don’t see the spotlight, but their dedication is essential to our success. Their hard work ensures that our cooperative operates efficiently and that our members receive the service and support they deserve. It takes teamwork across every department to make our cooperative strong, and our administrative staff plays a key role in that effort every single day.
To both our linemen and our administrative professionals, thank you. Thank you for your commitment, your work ethic and your service to our members. Thank you for the early mornings, the late nights and the missed celebrations. Thank you for your attention to detail, the patience and the care you show in every task. Thank you for being servant leaders.
Because of you, our cooperative runs smoothly and our members can depend on us. April is a reminder of just how much we appreciate everything you do— not just this month, but all year long.
