I keep hearing the “new normal.” I certainly hope this new normal does not last much longer and we get back to the real normal. The COVID-19 pandemic has presented many obstacles in the way everyone does business.
This year we are going to employ a new technique. The Office of Regulatory Staff has approved that cooperatives may have their meetings live-streamed. Even though you will not be able to attend, we will have drive-thru registration and voting. Legally we will still need to meet the quorum requirements, which is 5% of the membership as written in the Bylaws of Little River Electric Cooperative.
Changes in the bylaws were printed in June’s South Carolina Living and will need to be voted on, as well as trustees up for election. You will be mailed a ticket with your information and a bar code. Please bring this ticket and a photo ID to one of several convenient drive-thru registration locations. We have set up eight locations across Abbeville, Anderson, and McCormick counties. Each member that registers will receive a $25 bill credit and will be entered into drawings for the $1,000 bill credit grand prize, one of two $500 bill credits and many other credits to be awarded.
As mentioned, a photo ID is required to register, vote, and win prizes. ONLY THE MEMBER WHOSE NAME IS ON THE BILL/TICKET WILL BE ALLOWED TO REGISTER. If your name is not on the bill, there are several ways to be added. An application must be signed and returned to our office with a picture ID. Applications are available on our website, lreci.coop; by email, mail@lreci.coop; or you can drop by our office. Contact us today for more information at (864) 366-2141. Anyone registering for a church or business must have their name on the bill as well.
